The Call to Die Daily
Luke 9:23 – “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
Devotional Thought:
Jesus' call to take up our cross is radical. It challenges us to die daily to our own desires, ambitions, and comforts, just as He died for us. In the Roman era, carrying a cross signified a one-way journey to death. For us, taking up our cross means letting go of our selfishness and allowing Christ to live through us. Each morning, we are invited to make this choice anew—choosing to serve God’s purposes over our own.
Denying ourselves is a decision of trust, believing that God's ways are better than our ways, even when it costs us something. In surrendering to His will, we find true life in Christ.
Reflection Question:
What areas of your life do you need to surrender today to allow Christ to fully live through you?

Crucified with Christ
Romans 6:6 – “For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with.”
Philippians 1:21 – “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Devotional Thought:
When Paul says, "I have been crucified with Christ," he speaks of a profound truth: our old selves have died with Jesus on the cross. This means our sinful nature, our self-centered desires, and our former ways of thinking no longer define us. We now live a new life where Jesus is at the center.
As believers, our daily crucifixion is an ongoing process of transformation. The things we once lived for—comfort, success, approval—fade as we begin to live for God's glory. We are not just called to remember Christ’s death but to embody it in our daily living.
Reflection Question:
What does it look like for you to live as someone “crucified with Christ” in your relationships, work, or daily routine?

Following Jesus in the Everyday
Matthew 16:24 – “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
James 1:2-3 – “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
Devotional Thought:
Following Jesus is not limited to church or moments of prayer. It is a daily journey that we must embrace every morning. As the sermon reminds us, we face various challenges—at work, with family, or in personal struggles. Each of these moments provides an opportunity to take up our cross by choosing Christ over our own reactions, comforts, or desires.
Jesus calls us to follow Him, which means that in every situation, we are asked to reflect His love, forgiveness, and patience. This is how we carry our cross—by dying to our own ways and choosing to walk in His.
Reflection Question:
In what specific situations today can you practice self-denial and follow Christ’s example?

Enduring Persecution and Hardships
Matthew 5:11-12 – “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.”
2 Timothy 3:12 – “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
Devotional Thought:
As we strive to live out our faith, there will be opposition. Jesus warned us that the world may reject us just as it rejected Him. Following Christ may mean enduring ridicule, alienation, or even persecution for standing up for what is right and for proclaiming the gospel.
However, these trials are not a sign of failure, but of being on the right path. Persecution is a mark of faithful discipleship. The true story of Ivan Moiseyev from the sermon is a powerful example of enduring hardship for the sake of Christ. His steadfastness inspires us to live with boldness, knowing that Christ’s strength enables us to stand firm in adversity.
Reflection Question:
Are you prepared to stand for Christ even if it costs you your comfort, reputation, or friendships?

Living for Christ Alone
Colossians 3:3 – “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”
Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Devotional Thought:
When we commit to taking up our cross daily, we are choosing to live for Christ above all else. Our priorities shift from what we want to what God desires. As Paul writes, our lives are now hidden in Christ, meaning that who we are and what we do should reflect Him at every turn.
This new life of faith means living with an eternal perspective—seeking first God's kingdom, trusting that He will provide for our needs. When Christ is at the center, our concerns, plans, and desires align with His purpose.
Reflection Question:
How can you live today with Christ at the center of all your decisions and actions?
